Hayes Fuels, a family owned business, is one of Ireland's leading importer and distributor of coal products and biomass wood pellets. From our Head Office outside Dungannon in County Tyrone the business was established in 1988 and has gone from strength to strength to become a major player in the fuel industry.
Our success has been due largely to our commitment to quality products backed up by excellent customer service. We have developed long standing trading relationships with suppliers throughout Europe and the Baltic region to ensure we supply high quality coal and other solid fuels products.
We have a well-established distribution network to ensure we can supply an extensive range of solid fuel coal products and biomass wood pellets to customers all over Ireland, UK and Europe. These include solid fuel retailers, industrial plants, coal merchants and oil distributors.
We are an ambitious company always striving to expand, whether it be in supply, sourcing new products or in developing our wholesale/retail network.
Accreditations
Hayes Fuels provide a range of service and products which meet industry accreditations and service standards as set by a range of industry groups.
- Ready to Burn - Hayes Fuels are Ready to Burn approved meaning that our certified low sulphur products comply with the Air Pollution Act regulations ensuring our customers are consuming products that are cleaner and harmful pollutants free.
- EPA F0009-01 - Hayes Fuels are registered with the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) in Republic of Ireland as an approved solid fuels producer.
- HETAS - HETAS is the official body recognised by the UK Government to approve solid fuels, appliances and services.
- BSL - The Biomass Suppliers List (BSL) is a list of wood fuel suppliers that has proven it meets the eligibility requirements for the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme.
- WFQA - The Wood Fuel Quality Assurance (WFQA) scheme provides a simple but reliable way for consumers to purchase quality wood fuels that are accurately described, meet the supplier’s stated product specifications, and are produced in compliance with EUTR (EU Timber Regulation) ensuring sustainable produced wood fuels.
- EN plus - an independent certification scheme for wood pellets designed to guarantee quality.
- Health and Safety - Successfully migrated to ISO 45001:2018.
Customers we work with
Processing Facility, Belfast
At our Belfast processing plant we have been processing coal for in excess of 30 years. We source premium coal from a number of established mines throughout the world. We charter our own ships and import the coal mainly to Belfast port where we process the coal.
The imported coal is washed and screened to purify it and grade it according to size. The segregated coal is stockpiled by product and sizing before onward distribution to our prepacking facilities or direct to other coal distributors. All inward and outward coal products in our yard are weighed using a modern calibrated weighbridge.
Prepacking Plants
We have automated prepacking plants situated at both our sites in Dungannon and Belfast where we have combined capacity to store in excess of 15,000 tonnes of prepacked coal ready for distribution. We stock both bituminous coal and smokeless fuels in bag sizes ranging from 10 – 50kg. This gives us the capability to provide our customers with a superb service and ensure they get product when they need it.
